François Leleux
Hautbois
Born in 1971, François Leleux was seven years old when he began studying the oboe under Monsieur Pierron at the Roubaix Conservatoire. He entered the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique in Paris when he was fourteen, initially in Pierre Pierlot's class, and then with Maurice Bourgue. After brilliantly winning First Prizes for the Oboe and Chamber Music, he moved on to pursue his studies at a higher level. One of the best oboists of his generation, he was successively awarded First Prize in the International Competitions of MUNICH and TOULON, and has also won Second Prize in the International Competitions of Manchester and Praque, and the Special Prize at the International Competition of Trieste. Recently, he has been awarded the European Juventus Prize. Following his enriching experiences with the European Community Youth Orchestra and conductor Claudio Abbado, and also with the French National Opera, François Leleux became the first oboe soloist at the Paris Opera when he was still only 18. François Leleux regularly performs in chamber music events all over the world, particularly in sonatas with Emmanuel Strosser, with the Mullova Ensemble, or again with the Paris Bastille Wind Octet which was awarded the First International Prize for Chamber Music by the City of Paris just one month after its formation. François Leleux also pursues a solo career in Europe, Asia and the United States and has, amongst others, played at the Berlin Philharmonic with the Deutsches Symphonieorchester, at the Théâtre des Champs Elysées with the French National Orchestra, at Bunkamara with the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra and at the Lincoln Center as part of the Mostly Mozart Festival, but he also plays in the company of such prestigious soloists as Chung, Oistrach, Zukerman, Sawallisch, Bronfmann, Vladkovic, Thuneman, Mullova, Gallois, Pahud etc.... François Leleux has made recordings for: HARMONIA MUNDI: The works of Poulenc and Britten (awarded a "10" by Répertoire and a "Victoire" by Mussique Classique). PHILIPS: Bach's concerto for violin and oboe, with Viktoria Mullova (Phonoforum Prize). HARMONIA MUNDI: Chamber music with the Paris Bastille Wind Octet ("10" from Répertoire). SYRIUS 12: Telemann's Fantasies ("Choc" Award from the Monde de la Musique).
